You Ruin My Hard Work

I am hiring a Compliance Officer for one of our clients, a boutique Investment Bank; and have faced issues with most candidates; some giving excuses after excuses not to attend the interview, some treating the interview process very casually and some backing out at the last minute. Thus, the process on the whole has been quite stressful for me and I am writing this poem as a message to the candidates who are responsible for my stress:

You ruin my hard work

Recruitment isn’t a piece of cake

I burn the midnight oil

Trying to place the best people

“No”, many say

“Yes”, only a few say

Absolutely no idea, do you have

About what it means to be a recruiter

At least, show some love

Instead of acting like you don’t care!

You ruin my hard work

Your morals are weak

You take people for granted

Especially those who’ve toiled

Totally unprofessional, is your behaviour

And erratic, is your character!!

You ruin my hard work

While you yourself try to avoid work

But money, you always want

Well, prepare to face the brutal truth

Nowhere, are you going

Your talk means nothing

Until and unless your attitude changes

Your skills will be rendered useless

So, start being true to yourself and everybody

Otherwise, soon will you become a nobody!!
