A Close Friend, You Are

Poem dedicated to Vivek, a close friend and one of my former colleagues. Here goes the content:

A close friend, you are

For every human being, do you care

Really, are you a beautiful soul

Because, do you give it your all

When it comes to anything and everything

Also, wonderful are you at listening

Thus, are you a friend to treasure

Towards you, ill feelings no one can harbour!

A close friend, you are

And a very supportive colleague, you were

Working with you was a great pleasure

Never, were you a bore

And neither are you one now

I don’t know how

But you are almost always right

And your brutal honesty is difficult to beat!!

A close friend, you are

And an amazing husband and father

Most of the time, do you keep your cool

Rarely, are you dull

So, a sublime example are you, to follow

Hey machan, take a bow!!

A close friend, you are

And through you, Jesus himself can I hear

Hence, are you able to make me feel at ease

And enable me to find my inner peace

Your advice is valuable to the core

Something everyone should hear

So happy was I, to visit your home

A place where I have always felt a sense of calm

Rene is an awesome person

And charming, are your children!!

A close friend you are

And will be forever
