Poem Dedicated To My Friend Shruti

Poem dedicated to Shruti, who is a good friend of mine and whose mother is very close with my mom. Here goes the content:

We don’t speak a lot

It’s mostly Whatsapp

However, we have a good understanding between us

Not just because our mothers are best friends

Or because you and my sister are close

You know I am different

But it doesn’t matter to you

Because you see the character underneath

Rather than my behaviour or mannerisms

This is what I like about you the most

You are a great talker

And an even better listener

Though I am a non-vegetarian

I love the vegan dishes you cook

Whenever we have met

We’ve always had a good time

And the way you and your husband take care of your dog

Is something that even Blue Cross would be proud of!!

Also, I am really sorry

That I couldn’t meet you earlier this year

Yes, there was a major project

Nevertheless, I should have taken time out

Especially for such a wonderful soul like you

Hopefully we will catch up soon

And this time I won’t let you down, no matter what
