You Are Not Just My Cousin

Poem dedicated to one of my closest cousins, Priyanka. Here goes the content:

Technically, you are my cousin

However, in reality, you are far more than that

You have been putting up with my messages

Every single day

For the last one month or so

And it’s not like you have a lot of free time

On the contrary, you are rather busy

Whether it comes to work or family

And the fact that you take time out for my sake

Is something for which I will forever be grateful

You really are a rare soul

Who always sees the good in people

However, in spite of this

You manage to be extremely practical

And your advice has always been sound

I truly owe you big time

During the darkest phases of my life

You have always been there for me

And though I am not exactly an expert in showing affection

I want to let you know

That you are not just my cousin

You are my sister

You are my BFF

And finally, my mentor

Of course, I know that you will take care of yourself exceedingly well

However, if there ever be a time

When you are in need of help

You just have to say the word

And I will step up to the plate
