Yet another poem dedicated to my all-time favourite musician, Harris Jayaraj. Here is the content:
Dear Harris Sir
You are not just a musician
You are so much more than that
You are a lifesaver
And an inspiration to thousands of us
Who wake up every single day
Full of anxiety and dread
About the hardships that lie in store for them
However, the moment we put our headsets on
And tune in to your music
A feeling of calm settles over us
As our self-doubts and fears slowly fade away
And are replaced by self-belief and hope
We now feel confident enough
To take on the might of the world
And bravely face the challenges it decides to throw us
Dear Harris Sir
I have been fascinated by your music
Right since my adolescent years
There is something undefinable about it
That draws people like a magnet
It could be the fusion of Western and Carnatic music
It could be the apt use of singers
It could be the sheer symmetry of the music
Hell, it could even be the catchiness
Of the gibberish lyrics you often deploy!!
Dear Harris Sir
Over the years, I have listened to a variety of music
AR Rahman, Santhosh Narayanan, Ilaiyaraaja
Linkin Park, Evanescence, Boney M
Korn, System of a Down, Epica
And the list goes on and on
However, the kind of magic your music seems to produce
Is something which I feel cannot be matched
Even by the Pied Piper of Hamelin!!
Dear Harris Sir
I will always be your fan
However, as a well-wisher
I wish to point out
That in recent times
The X-Factor seems to be missing from your music
However, I am equally sure
That this is just a phase you’re going through
And you will no doubt bounce back
As you have often done in the past
And silence your critics
With an album for the ages
