An Ode To Harris Jayaraj

Yet another poem dedicated to my favourite music composer. Here is the content:

Dear Harris Sir

I have been a fan of your music

Since the age of sixteen

When I heard the song “Oru Maalai”

Which transported me to another world

A world like no other

From then on, there was no looking back

Those were the days of cassettes and CDs

Every time an album of yours was released

I would be one of the first to buy it

Thus putting my pocket money to good use

From cassettes to CDs

CDs to MP3 players

And finally

MP3 players to songs downloaded from the Internet

A lot has changed over the years

But not my love for your music

I may be a fully grown adult now

But I feel the same childlike excitement

Whenever I listen to one of your songs

As I did, all those years ago

Whenever I am down in the dumps

Or caught in a pressure cooker-like situation

Or riding a rollercoaster of emotions

It is your music

That I turn to

In order to make me feel better about myself

And I want to let you know

That you still have a lot of music in you

Of course, life is full of ups and downs

And even the best of people

Have to endure some rough patches

That is the harsh reality of life

However, I’m sure you will turn things around

Just like how Virat Kohli did recently

Keep believing in yourself, Sir

And don’t let your doubters drag you down

Your music is one of a kind

Which is why I’m one of your biggest fans

And will always be
