Oh, if wishes were horses!
If only every wish of mine came true
Then I would be the happiest person in the world
There would be no worldly worries
No work stress
No family drama
No health ailments
And I can go on and on
Oh, if wishes were horses!
There would be no time limits
We could do anything we wanted
And do it at our own pace
Without a care in the world
There would be absolutely nobody to stop us
Oh, if wishes were horses!
We could bring people back from the dead
All those loved ones we’ve lost
Family, relatives, friends
And even people whom we don’t know personally
But who have reformed the society in many ways
Dr. BR Ambedkar, Buddha, Guru Nanak
Thanthai Periyar, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule
The list is endless
Oh, if wishes were horses!
Caste would finally be annihilated
There would be a radical redistribution of wealth and power
In the hands of those who truly deserve it
Those who’ve spent blood, sweat and tears
To earn every single paisa
Oh, if wishes were horses!
India would be a federal state
Kashmir Valley would finally gain independence
As would the North-Eastern states
Oh, if wishes were horses!
There would be total freedom
To speak whatever you want in public
Without the fear of being arrested
Or worse, lynched
And the death penalty would be abolished
Once and for all
Oh, if wishes were horses!
There would be free education and healthcare for all
And the state would have total control
Oh, if wishes were horses!
There are a lot more things
That we can wish for
But this is all for today
After all, many of the things we’ve wished for
Are highly unrealistic; not to mention, impossible
But hey, what’s wrong in wishing
As long as we don’t wish harm to others?
