Why is verbal communication so important?
Are all orators saints?
Hitler was a great orator
But was he a decent human being?
King George VI had a speech defect
But he was one of the finest rulers!!
Why is verbal communication so important?
Glib talkers may be blessed
With a truckload of social skills
But do they actually contribute anything
To their precious society?
Apart from boring our pants off
With a thousand inane details
About their own pretentious selves
Why is verbal communication so important?
Is speech the best judge of character?
Do words speak louder than actions?
There are a million souls
In this monstrous country
Whose blood, sweat and tears
Shape our everyday life
They may not speak much
But it is what they do
That truly matters
But do we give them the importance
That they so richly deserve?
Why is verbal communication so important?
The purpose of an interview
Is to select the right fit for the job
But do our corporates
Truly understand what that means?
They stress so much on verbal communication
Now, there are so many candidates
Who are extremely skilled
But they do not get selected
Because they stammer
Or because they make pauses
Or because they are socially awkward
Or because they are autistic
Or even worse, because they are not polished enough
There are also many candidates
Who have inadequate skills
But they get selected
Simply because they speak fluently
Or because they are outgoing
Or even worse, because they have a certain aura about them
Ultimately, they do not do justice
To the role for which they have been chosen
As a result, the industry suffers
It follows too, that we suffer
Why then, is verbal communication so important?
