So Many Lovely Memories, Do We Share

My dear sister Shreeja and I have shared many beautiful memories over the years. Here is a poem on the same:

So many lovely memories, do we share

The typical quarrels between a brother and a sister

The silly but immensely enjoyable games we played together

Going to school together by car

You and Anirudh teasing me for being slow

So much to look back at and laugh now!

So many lovely memories, do we share

Spread over so many a year

Our absolutely unforgettable Kodaikanal tour

When you had not even completed a year

Our incredible sighting of the red moon at Nageswara Park

There is nothing that your eyes lack!!

So many lovely memories, do we share

Our visits to Chennai during the summer

Our utterly unforgettable trip to Kashmir

Where you turned out to be such a chatterbox

The fun we had exploring the Singapore metro routes

Bathing in the river at Kodaganallur

For sure, does your mere presence add a lot of cheer!!

So many lovely memories, do we share

Our Chennai Hiranandani tour

The Hong Kong adventure

Our first USA visit

Where you spotted a McDonald’s outlet from the flight

Our bonding with Nithya, Nikhil and family

Never did we notice time fly!!

So many lovely memories, do we share

The exhausting but extremely enjoyable Mumbai marathons

Our Goa and Vizag travels

Exploring Rameshwaram and Dhanushkodi

Land’s End was quite a sight to see

Not to mention, taking selfies with the famous Pamban Bridge

Our childlike excitement was huge!!

So many lovely memories, do we share

You, all of a sudden, becoming a Chennai lover

Your attachment towards the late “Kuttaj” was really cute

Including even installing a photo frame for the poor old cat

Then, Cat Café Studio was the perfect way to end 2018

2019 though, was a year full of fun

The key highlight being our grand tour of England and Ireland

With Nithya showing us around Ireland

And you enjoying a long train journey for once

Even better though, was the Thames River cruise

Where we had the time of our lives

However. NOTHING could beat the Wimbledon camping experience

Not even the matches themselves!!

So many lovely memories, do we share

During the pandemic, you were such a dear

Doing your best to put a smile on our faces

While we had an ever-growing list of worries

However, your best act was rescuing me from a disastrous marriage

Truly, did you set me free from a cage

Not to mention, did you play a key role

In the subsequent divorce process

During the entire drama, did you stay cool

And ensured I finally attained inner peace

Also, did you take great care of Kalyani Patti

And were a great source of comfort to our entire family

During the aftermath of her untimely demise

Definitely, do you have a knack of putting people at ease!!

So many lovely memories, do we share

Our Senji Kottai Fort trekking adventure

Your enthusiasm was so infectious

That it rubbed off on the rest of us

The variety of movies we watched at Thoraipakkam

I still remember every one of them

Your grand farewell party at the Hyatt

So much, did we eat

That, in your own words, we had become like rock pythons

For me it rings so true, especially given my love for snakes!!

So many lovely memories, do we share

Of London, did you give us an amazing tour

So much fun did we have at the WTC final

In spite of India not playing well

Not to mention, I love your friends

While interacting with them, I feel totally at ease

Your gifts are extremely thoughtful

Truly, are you a beautiful soul

On that note, let me end this gigantic poem

Hope it made you beam!!
