You Are My Family Friend

Another poem dedicated to Tamil Elakiya, a very close friend and former colleague of mine. Here is the content:

You are my family friend

Always, do you lend a helping hand

To those in need

So many mouths, do you have to feed

However, never do you give up

In every situation, do you have a firm grip

Never, do you allow things to get out of hand

Whenever have I been in a bind

Always, have you helped me

Thanks to you, is my mind free!

You are my family friend

We share a special bond

Ten years, have we been there for each other

Almost like a brother and a sister

It all began, when we were colleagues

Going to office together by scooter

And even returning together

What fun, did we have!!

Sometimes, like kids, did we behave!!

Unfortunately, though, did you become a victim of office politics

However, in our friendship, was there nothing amiss

In fact, did we end up getting closer and closer

When colleagues were we, no longer!!

You are my family friend

Your family is very kind

Especially your dear mother

Who gelled very well with my late maternal grandmother

Hari and I are good friends

Nidhul is my cutest friend

Just kidding, he is like a nephew to me

Thanks to him, though, are we all happy!!

You are my family friend

Never, have you left me at a dead end

Twice, have you rescued me from a crisis

To my life, do you bring peace
