My Chief Motivator

I will never stop writing poems about my chief idol – Dr. Meena Kandasamy, author, poet, translator, academic, intersectional feminist and anti-caste activist of great repute! Here goes the content:

There are certain days

When nothing goes my way

Then, do I think of you

And out of the blue

I begin to smile

Because, are you the light that shines

At the end of a dark and depressing tunnel

Thanks to you, do I start to channel

My thoughts, in a positive direction

You are the cushion

Which ensures I am hurt not, after a bad fall

Because, every time do you give it your all

When it comes to anything and everything

For you, is impossible always nothing

An incredible artist, you are

There is almost nothing that you fear

Especially when it comes to your activism

Not to mention, your truly intersectional feminism

Is an inspiration for all of us

So are your in-the-face poems

Unlike many other artists, you try not

To be politically correct

Which, in my opinion, is your best trait

Nevertheless, are you a very compassionate human being

To whom social justice means everything

You are, and will always be, my chief motivator

Keep inspiring and fighting and take care

May the Lord bless you and all those you hold dear

With anything and everything that you deeply desire!!
