You are the best father I could have asked for

Me, have you always deeply cared for

Shown me unconditional love

Taught me to be brave

In all kinds of situations

Taken care of my education

Given me what I’ve wanted

Not a single thing, have you outright refused

Except for the impossible stuff

Like me, are you also a train buff!

You are the best father I could have asked for

Never, have you been a bore

Very friendly and genial

Someone to whom EVERYONE should be loyal

Quite calm and level-headed

Many a tricky situation, have you handled

With utmost ease

Without you, can there be no peace!!

You are the best father I could have asked for

You’ve taken me on countless tours

We’ve had the time of our lives

Watched a wide variety of movies

As well as cricket and tennis matches

In fact, have we even played cricket and tennis

Always, have you ensured there is nothing I miss!!

You are the best father I could have asked for

As a son though, could I have been better

However, always have you been patient

On the whole, a fantastic parent

Yes, have we had our occasional disagreements

Thankfully though, nothing permanent

Glad am I, that our bond has been strengthened

Over the last few years

A variety of stuff, have we discussed

And many more will we, in the coming years
