I Am Very Happy I Met You

This is a poem dedicated to author and poet Himangini Puri; whom I have had the pleasure of meeting thrice (twice in the last 8 months) when she hosted Poetry Open Mics organised by Mohit Kumar; Founder of the wonderful Mumbai-based art platform Hooted1ce. Here goes the content:

I am very happy I met you

Your poetry rings as true

As Israel being the greatest thief in the world

Brilliant, are your words

Even better, is your recitation

People sit up, rapt with attention

Whenever you take the stage

Really, do you have a remarkable range!

I am very happy I met you

It won’t be so difficult to beat the infamous Monday Blues

If we read your poetry

It has such a variety

That, we can get bored never

Truly, are you a wonderful writer!!

I am very happy I met you

Honestly, I have not a clue

How do you manage to be so consistently brilliant

Of course, you do have loads of talent

However, what matters the most

Is the fact that you are smart and dedicated

And love what you do

I am so proud of you!!

And even happier that I purchased your book

Your writing is a perfect mix of light and dark

And I love your angry poems

Equally as I love your happy poems

Looking forward to meet you again soon

After all, hearing you recite is a massive boon
