Thou Art A Great Soul

I just cannot stop waxing eloquent about my idol Meena Kandasamy; award-winning author, poet, translator, academic and anti-caste activist. Here goes another poem:

Thou art a great soul

I respect you above all

Because, really are you an allrounder

A poet and a writer

An academic and a translator

A truly intersectional feminist

And last but not the least

A thoroughly dedicated anti-caste activist!

Thou art a great soul

You have great ideals

Compassionate to the core

Never are you a bore!!

A burning passion do you have, for social justice

Words, never do you mince

Also, are you extremely witty

Not to mention, occasionally funny!!

Thou art a great soul

One of my role models

You have the heart of a lioness

Truly, are you badass!!

Without fail, do you fight for the downtrodden

Upon yourself, do you take a great burden

Because, never will you rest

Until and unless justice is served

Thou art a great soul

Your voice serves as the death knell

For all the oppressors

You are thoroughly fearless

Your writing is almost flawless

And in the midst of all your activities

Somehow, do you manage to take time out

And show a great deal of love and affection

For your angel-like children

And I am so, so proud

To be an ardent admirer of yours
