You Failed Me As A Friend

How does it feel when someone pretends to be your best friend and then ghosts you over a trifle like a comment on a Facebook photo? Well, here is a poem on that:

You failed me as a friend

I thought we shared a great bond

Alas, how wrong I was!

I should have known something was amiss

When you gave me the cold shoulder

For not giving you a proxy

When you were absent

However, your personality was akin to a Doxy

And for me, rarely were you present

When it truly mattered

However, for you I truly cared

Stood up for you, I always have

You knew I was naïve

And took advantage of it

You cared for me not one bit!!

You failed me as a friend

To a person like you, would I instead prefer even a fiend!!

You called me your best friend

Not once or twice, but several times

However, to our relationship, did you put an end

As though I had committed a crime

When all I did, was posting a silly comment

Not in any way, was it unpleasant

But your elephant-sized ego needed a massage

So, to my heart, did you cause significant damage

Leaving me helpless, broken and insecure

While you played the victim

Thus, proving that our friendship was nothing but a sham!!

You failed me as a friend

During our college days

Your domination would never end

Come what may

You were a typical drama queen

And would never take no for an answer

Even were we genuinely not keen

Seriously, you were such a sore loser!!

However, you were also an excellent actress

Hence, could you always pretend to be a typical damsel in distress

Whenever someone put you in your place

When you wanted; you could be nice

However, under the rosy exterior

Lay an ice-cold interior

You knew I was different

However, to my emotions and feelings

Were you quite indifferent

To you, were your needs and wants everything!!

You failed me as a friend

And left in me a deep wound

Which is yet to heal completely

You know, I was so happy

When you came to my home

Along with the rest of the gang, of course

Never did I think you would turn out to be such a curse

To you, was our friendship a mere game!!

You failed me as a friend

But for me, learning has no end

Now, I am a wiser man

But I doubt you can be a better woman

If there’s one person who can cause a change of heart

It is Jesus, and Jesus alone

However, you still have to play your part

And show some spine

When it cometh to your morals

Thanks to the Grace of the one true God, Jesus Christ

I am sure I can forgive you once and for all

However, that doesn’t mean I can trust

Even if you do your best

To become a better human being

Between us, can there be nothing
