You Are A Model Friend

A poem dedicated to Shruti, a family friend of mine. Here is the content:

You are a model friend

Someone whom I would defend

In all kinds of situations

Because you always give your full and undivided attention

To what those around you say

And your smile never fails to brighten my day!

You are a model friend

There is nothing you cannot amend

To the world, do you appear cool as ice

Indeed, are you extremely nice

However, from the inside

A lot of emotions, do you exude

Truly, do you care a lot

For the people who matter

But you show it not

Instead, do you indulge in friendly banter

So fun, are you to be around

For you, dearly would I love to do errands

Because, why would I ever say no to such a friendly face

Especially if you embody patience?

You are a model friend

For you, there are rules I could bend

Only if required, of course!!

There is no place, to which you are averse

When it cometh to travelling

Also, do you dearly love dancing!

Though I am a meat eater

I love the vegan dishes you cook

You are truly an open book

Not to mention, very handsome do you look

And your fashion sense is one for the books!!

You are a model friend

To our chatter, will there be no end!

Not to mention, you are an amazing listener

And always make me feel better

Whenever I am drowning in a pool of insecurities

Truly, do you put me at ease

Hence, do I feel I can tell you anything

Your words never fail to be soothing

However, rarely do you sugarcoat

Indeed, you are not afraid to rock the boat

If it indeed comes to that!

I repeat, you are a model friend

But not just a friend

Practically speaking, you are also my unofficial cousin

Being associated with you is indeed a blessing!!
