An Ode To My First Love

This is yet another poem dedicated to my first true love; which happened during my MBA days. Here is the content:

When we first met

I was a bit reticent

Why, know I did not, then

However, clear did it become, soon

Shy, were you as well

And had me under a spell

Right from our second meeting

To you, did I develop a liking

Because, sweet as honey, you were

And so classy, was your English

I knew then and there

That, experiencing was I, sheer bliss

Truly, were you the one for me

No other girl, could my eyes see

When I first came to college

Felt, did I, that I was in a different league

Because, almost everyone seemed to be from another planet

Profusely, did I sweat

Because I was so nervous

That I could not properly focus

However, you changed everything

Reduced, were all my fears, to nothing

And become did I, happy and confident

Because, you were the angel God had sent

To change my life for the better

You had, not a single hater

Because, you were such a beautiful human being

Innocent, sweet and caring

Never would you get angry

Even when tested beyond your limits

Most of the time, were you happy

And always did your bit

To help people in need

You had, not an iota of greed

For the first time in my post-school life

Did I attempt to make academics my wife

You were my main source of motivation

Thanks to you, did I pay rapt attention

In almost all my classes

It was one of the best phases

Of my entire life

Even it wasn’t free of strife

With you, did I have quite a few good moments

Since our conversations were always pleasant

However, my favourite has to be that debate

About that silly SRK movie ‘Ra One’

Because you showed a lot of spirit

A side of you that I had never seen

How wonderful would it have been

Had I asked you out, when I had the chance

And you said ‘Yes’!

Anyway, leave it, I am probably just in a trance

But yes, did I truly love you

And can never forget you

By the time did I confess my feelings

Already engaged, were you

However, your response was stunning

All the time, had you known

But never showed it, in your tone

Truly are you such an amazing human being

And can I go on writing

But I will end on this note
