A Friend To Cherish Forever

Poem dedicated to Rene, a good friend and former colleague of mine. Here is the content:

At office did we first meet

And a ball of energy were you

Right from day one

Warm and friendly

Outspoken and brutally honest

You were quite the life of the party

Even were there no party

Never did you mince words

Generous with praise

And at the same time

Fierce with criticism

Quite a lot did I learn

From you alone!!

Well do I remember

The time I lost my temper

And shouted at you

Not everyone would have forgiven me

But you did

And forever am I grateful to you

For giving me a second chance

Just the way Professor Dumbledore did

For Severus Snape

Well, no surprise was it

That good friends we became

Quite the good vibes do you radiate

And amongst my favourite couples

Are you and Vivek

A sweeter and more understanding pair

I have seen never

Quite blunt you may be

However, underneath the hard exterior

Lies a very gentle and caring heart

And the way you and Vivek raise your children

Is quite the example to set

Something I witnessed first hand

When I visited your home recently

And was absolutely floored by your hospitality

The way we talked, it would seem

As if we met regularly

Though the reality was

We were meeting after a humungous gap of eight years

Never do I have any hesitation in saying

That I can trust you with anything

Nor do I fail to appreciate

That you consider me close enough

To speak what’s in your mind

Without any filter whatsoever

So, may you continue to be the awesome human being you are

And may we catch up soon
