I Will Never Regret Falling In Love With You

Poem dedicated to my first love – a girl with whom I fell in love during my MBA days. Here goes the content:

I have done many things in my life

Which I regret deeply

However, falling in love with you

Was never one of them

Right from our second meeting

I knew that you were going to be very very special to me

And I sincerely thank God

For making this happen

By ensuring that I felt like a third wheel

While sitting with a group of friends

In our college canteen

Given that I was a bit shy by nature

Just like you were

How I managed to pluck up the courage

To leave my friends

And sit next to you instead

I seriously do not know

But I am very glad that I did it

Ultimately, we spoke for less than ten minutes

But for me, it felt like almost half an hour

Because, every minute spent with you

Was as precious

As oxygen is, for our survival

After this hugely significant meeting

Our conversations were generally short

Except for that memorable debate

On the movie “Ra One”

I will always remember that

Because I saw a side of you

That I had never seen before

A rare competitive streak

In a very sweet and caring personality

Whenever I hear the song “Mun Andhi”

From the movie “7am Arivu”

I am always reminded of you

Not just because it is such a beautiful and romantic song

But also owing to the fact

That “7am Arivu” was released at the same time

As “Ra One” was

Anyway, I truly loved you

But somehow, I could never muster the courage

To confess my feelings

Until it was too late

However, your casual revelation

That you had always known

Came as a bit of a shock to me

You really are an amazing lady

And wherever you are now
