The Role That Teachers Play In Our Life

This is a poem dedicated to all the teachers in my life. Here goes the content:

As most of us should be aware of

Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s most famous slogan is “Educate! Agitate! Organise!”

Well, education is where it all begins

Our entire life is a learning process

Therefore, education is of supreme importance

For, not only does it open the door for job opportunities

It also teaches us a lot about our society

Especially how to adapt and survive

In a variety of situations and circumstances

Talking about teaching, as far as education is concerned

Teachers play an extremely critical role

We can read a lot of books

However, in order to truly understand the subject matter

We need teachers

A good teacher explains the subject in such a way

That there is no need to commit anything to memory

But that is not the only role of a teacher

S/he also guides and mentors the students

Ensures discipline in the classroom

And above all, prepares the students

To face a variety of difficult situations

In their daily life

Also, the role that our teachers play

Is extremely underrated

Particularly in this era of technology

With online classes slowly but surely taking over

Of course, anyone can memorise subject matter

However, when it comes to work

We have to apply the concepts that we have learnt

And memorising is not true learning

For true learning, we need teachers

Whether it be online or offline learning

Of course, every student needs to study extensively

However, the bottomline is

The success of a student

Is decided by the performance of the teachers

Therefore, teachers often have to work tirelessly

Sacrificing a lot of precious sleep in the process

In order to ensure that the students are well prepared

To face any challenge that life throws at them

This applies not only to schools

But also colleges and universities

Just as we often celebrate the success of students

We also need to celebrate the success of teachers

Since our society owes a lot to them

After all, just like students

Teachers are also human

And can make mistakes

Which is something we need to understand and appreciate

Before passing harsh judgements

Therefore, let us salute our teachers

For the role they have played

In shaping our lives

And ensuring that we are better human beings
