My Musings On My Favourite Musician

Yet another poem dedicated to my all-time favourite musician, Harris Jayaraj. Here goes the content:

I have listened to a lot of music over these years

Tamil, Hindi, English and even Telugu

However, as far as Indian music is concerned

No one has made the kind of impact

That you have, on me

Ever since I heard the songs “Oru Maalai” and “Suttum Vizhi”

About eighteen years ago

I have been an ardent admirer of yours

You are blessed with a huge amount of talent

However, mere talent is not enough

If you want to make waves in the film industry

You also need to put in a lot of hard work

Well, you have certainly done that

And developed a lot of variety in your music

Earlier, you were known mainly for your melodies

Particularly the ones sung by Bombay Jayashri

Now, you are a versatile musician

Possessing expertise in almost every genre

And at the same time, retaining your unique style

That is, the seamless fusion of Indian and Western music

And the softness of the instruments used

Not to mention, the catchy gibberish vocals

All of which, were hugely responsible

For your success in the Tamil film industry

One cannot talk about music

Without talking about Harris Jayaraj

If you were to wake me up in the middle of the night

And force me to sing a song composed by Harris Sir

I would gladly oblige without a second thought

Coming back to you, Sir

I understand you’re going through a lean patch at the moment

However, I am equally sure

As are a million other fans of yours

That you will soon bounce back

And that too with a bang

Just keep believing in yourself

And you will produce some magic for sure

Wish you all the very best
