Never Will I Forget You, Dear Comrade

Why do I write so many poems about Dr. Meena Kandasamy (celebrated author, poetess, translator, academic, intersectional feminist and anti-caste activist)? Well, you will find out in this particular poem:

If I have not lost hope yet

To you, goes the credit

Because, you inspire thousands of people

Including those who consider themselves incapable

Of achieving anything noteworthy

For social justice, are you hungry

Thus, we too are hungry

Because, you ask every single question

Which we would usually treat with utmost caution

You scream from the rooftops

From you, always do we seek tips

Because, you are living proof

That the pen is indeed mightier than the sword

Your critics and detractors may laugh

However, to silence you, it is very very hard

You are determination and perseverance personified

Hence, am I so impressed

That you are the first person I think of

Whenever my mood is off

You may not be a magician

But thanks to you, I don’t feel I am alone

When it comes to my struggles

And whenever I am in trouble

I know it is not the end of the world

Thanks to your powerful words

Never will I forget you, Dear Comrade

Keep rocking, keep inspiring and stay blessed

Jai Bhim! Vaazhga Periyar!!
